The Miracle of Mission Feeding
Nine years ago, in remote Angola, 5-year-old John fled gunfire and bombs during this country's civil war. He and his family sought refuge in a small village called Damba Maria. The family had no possessions... only hope.
At the same time, LIFE Outreach set up a refugee camp in Damba Maria where we witnessed hundreds, like John and his family escaping from war. We established a mission feeding program using our nutritious soup. Little by little, we saw the changes. Faces started to fill out, little children began to run and play... lives were changing.
On a recent visit back to Damba Maria, our mission team ran into our friend John. This healthy and happy teen says that because of Mission Feeding he attends school, plays soccer, and dreams about a brighter future.
This simple, yet profoundly effective, outreach has helped save the lives of hundreds of thousands of people -- mainly children -- just like John. It has also opened up the doors to continued education and ministry to help countless people get "back on their feet" and return to self-subsistence.
Yet because of the instability of governments, war, famine, floods and other crises out of the control of the ordinary people, emergency conditions continue to occur. That is why LIFE continues to supply the vitamin-enriched "bowl of soup" in feeding centers established in the most critical areas.
It only takes $10 to feed a child for 4 months. In perspective, $30 to feed 3, and $50 to supply 5 children with necessary nutrients.
As long as the need exists, LIFE will strive to reach as many people as possible. The support of our friends and viewers greatly determines how much help we can provide.
LIFE Outreach is currently feeding an average of 375,000 people each month.
